“Leaders
should not lead the churches
by imitation
but by revelation from God.
What has been revealed to someone for his church
could be different for our church.
Understanding this make us to follow God's revelation.
And this also make us to respect other churches though may be different from us.
God did not call us to imitation.
God called us to revelation.
When was the last time you asked God,
"Lord, what is your plan for us?
Are you revealing something?"

A STORY OF SECOND CHANCE FROM GOD - TED WILLIAMS, THE MAN WITH A GOLDEN VOICE

I cannot help but write about the story of this certain man with a golden voice whose video went viral through the internet. His video was viewed 11 million plus times in Youtube since it was uploaded. Below is the video when he was discovered.

This is the story of Ted Williams, the man with a golden voice of America. Ted Williams was homeless, and was using his golden voice to collect money on passersby on the side of the road. Ted admitted his life was ruined by drugs and alcohol. He admitted that he has his "hard times" and was in jail for two years, but now he is clean. He was discovered by a Columbus dispatch reporter along the road of Ohio. Since his video went viral, it became an internet sensation, and this paved a way for him to have a comeback in life he was wishing for. Today, several employments have been offered to him, but according to the report, it was the Cleveland Cavaliers who employed him in a full-time job, and will give him a house. What a very touching and inspirational story of comeback. Watching his interview in the news where he is already a different man, dodging a new clean hair-cut, I was so inspired with the words he has said over millions live televiewers. It was a testimony of how God can radically change a life, a testimony of how God can give a person a second chance, and a testimony of how good God is to prove a person a comeback.

Ted Williams said in the interview:
“The difference between now and the time I did have some kind of a heyday or a successful life is that know I’m more appreciative of life, I’m not taking it for granted and I’m thanking the Lord every day. Even if this didn’t happen, I’m still on that road and thanked Him and I my hour with God.”
When he said those words, "An hour with God" it really touched me. He is pertaining to his hour on the road collecting money from the passersby. He was appreciative of every hour God has given him.

Indeed, everybody deserves a second chance. No matter how hard you fall, what matters is your rebound. And God will always help the person who chose to comeback no matter how impossible the situation is, who chose to be appreciative of life no matter how hard it is, and who chose to believe that there is God who always give a second chance.

Photo of Ted when he was homeless a year ago collecting money by using his golden voice. Below is his recent interview on the TV.

CHANGING OUR "JESUS-LOVES-YOU-FAMILIARITY"

"Jesus loves you."
"God loves you."

Words we are so familiar with. It became so familiar that to many it is just an expression or a quotation. The worst thing is that these words have been used by religion and churches in their own context and perspectives. Oftentimes, the comfort "God loves you" is just given to the lovable but not to the unloveable. We can say outright to good people these words, but to the worst of sinners who are annoyance to our society, we are taciturn to say this. We have seen religious people with a "cause" rallying in the streets condemning some "evil" people declaring that there is hell, and somehow they can never use these words, "God loves you." Somehow, we can just say "God loves you" to religious people but we think twice if we can say these to the fallen, to the unchurched or to people who sinned. To the "worst of sinners" whom we branded - the prostitutes, the "gays", the criminals, the corrupt, and others - we cannot declare these words to them. The religious people became so familiar with "Jesus loves you" that we cannot share it to those who are not familiar with it.

Somehow, these words are but for the sweet and for the lovable. We never realized that these words, "Jesus loves you," is not an expression nor a sweet quotation. These words were written in blood. This is not a sweet word but a "dirty" word so to speak. Jesus became "dirty" as he carried that cross, as he was spit upon by people, and as he hung on that cross. Jesus did all of these declaring that Jesus loves everybody!

Saying "Jesus loves you" is not based on our own context and perception who qualifies to be covered with God's love and who is only worthy to hear these words. Jesus loves everybody - the most sinful and even the religious people.

Maybe it's time to be enlightened and move from what is familiar.
How?
Get out to the street, look for someone who is branded as worst of sinners by our society, and start by whispering as if you are speaking to that person and say, "Jesus loves you."
This is the start and you will discover that the used-to-be familiar words "Jesus loves you" to you will come alive and will have a deeper meaning. Your prejudice will be gone, your legalistic mindset will be gone, and your selfishness will be gone.

Now, then let us change the spotlight from those "worst of sinners" to -

   you.

How many times you can easily declare the words "Jesus loves me" just because you are faithful in the church? or just because you have done good things in your life? or maybe you have been performing nicely in your religious activities? But why you can't declare these words, "Jesus loves me" when we fall into sin? when we became inactive in the church? when we made a shameful sin?

Now, let us get out of the familiar and let us make these words real in your life. Think for a moment the worst sin which you have done in your life and the sin for which you have been ashamed of, and declare verbally with boldness -

"Jesus... loves me."

God loves you not based on your performance. Remember, God loves you already even in your worst.

"Jesus loves you." The "you" here represents all kinds of people. Change the "you" with any kind of sinner you can think of, and the words will still fit because it is Jesus who loves, not us. And when we see these people how Jesus loves them, then we can move out from the familiar, and love them with authenticity.

TOUCHING LIVES ONLINE [ AND OFFLINE]

Almost everyday, I am sharing inspirational and radical truths through this blog. It has already been a habit at 4AM after my solitude with God and meditation of His words that I always write something here in my blog to inspire people. I consider it a tremendous blessing to touch people's lives online. But somehow God impressed upon me that I got to do more than just touch people's lives online. God impressed upon me that I can do more when I leave this chair, go out and touch people's lives in a personal and incarnate basis.

This is breaking the usual. This is getting out the comfort zone. This is going for the second mile in serving others.

5AM, I am already out. It was a long ride. I will speak to and inspire the whole security force of Rustan's, a big mall in Makati. It was a blessed experience to share the love of God to these security guards. I was thinking how we just ignore these people in many establishments and we often forgot that they too are people who need Jesus. And this was a big open door from God to introduce them to a new life. There in their gathering, I was enabled by God to share to them the radical love of Jesus. I shared to them that the Greatest Security Guard of their lives is none other than Jesus, and that every security guard must have a "Security God." Eventually, after the love of Jesus has been shared, all of them opened their hearts to Jesus and they received Him for a new relationship and salvation.

Today is another day of making this love incarnate to people. And it didn't stop there, after that, I have to go to Pandacan, Manila which is far from my place to conduct a Gospel service. It was a blessed night to share  the message of God's love to the people wherein they all received Jesus in their hearts.

For the whole week, it has been a joyous blessing to touch people's lives - counseling people, sharing the word of God in various small groups from one house to another. In one of our house session, three "gays" joined us. They thought they will not be welcomed but they were received with love. They were teary-eyed when they heard God's love for them. I know that their transformation will only start in salvation. The law cannot change them. Religion cannot save them. Only Jesus can. They accepted Jesus  in their hearts and their hearts were beaming with hope that they can have a better life with Jesus.

Somehow, I looked back this year, that God has given me this knack to reach out to selected groups of people. I remember at one early morning, our team has ministered to construction workers in one street giving them free breakfast and the Gospel. Also in another effort of love, I have ministered to suicidal "emo" students of one campus. In another engagement, we have fed and shared the gospel to tricycle drivers. God has indeed blessed this second mile of serving others.

I have realized these radical truths in going "offline" in order to do the extra-mile in serving others:
1. True happiness is when you make others happy.
2. There is always an opportunity to help people. Just go out and you will see.
3. Christianity must not be confined inside the church buildings.
4. The more you go out to help people, the less you will think of your own problems or struggles.
5. The more you see the plight of people out there, the more you will see how blessed you are.
6. And you are blessed because the blessing ought not to stop with you, it must be passed to others.
7. When you have the vision to help others, God will always give the provision.
8. Your work, your position, your office are not hindrances but ought to be avenues in helping others.

A friend of mine who is already with the Lord in heaven, told me when she was still alive and battling with cancer,  "I will not go to heaven defeated and sad. I am on my way to heaven helping other people. And if I die, I will die while helping people." I saw her victorious and enjoyed her life till her last breath.

These are thanksgiving and introspections of God's goodness in my life. To be a help is already a blessing.

And here I am again, writing these things with prayer that anyone who read this will be inspired and be blessed by God. I will keep on writing in this blog to help more people out there, but after writing a post, I will again be back in the streets and in the houses or wherever God will lead me to share His words, help and touch people's lives. It is indeed different when love becomes incarnate.

God "wrote" the Bible.
Yet, He still came down, lived with humans, and died for them.
He cannot afford to be just online and sitting on His throne.

THE BREAKTHROUGH OF YOUR RISING

This is the breakthrough of your rising.

No rising,
No breakthrough will rise for you.

Another radical truth –

Before breakthroughs will come.
You will be broken first.
Because you must be ready.
This is why you have been broken in the past.
God is making wings in you.

But when you rise up.
Breakthroughs are all for you.

Rising here is no more of rising to kneel, nor rising to walk,
nor rising to run – you all have done that already.

This time rising up so high -
so you can fly.

When your soul has been broken and you win through it,
It is now the time for all challenges and breakthroughs to be broken in pieces for you to be attained.

Breakthroughs come to be used by used-to-be broken souls who rise above them.

This means that this is the completion of your rising.

It means this –

You rise up from your past and face the bright present.
You rise up from scarcity and go for abundance.
You rise up from religion and go for relationships.
You rise up from status quo and go for greatness.
You rise up from fear that holding you back and go for fulfillment.
You rise up from all accomplishments and do more feats.

The rising here doesn’t speak of your coming back.
This speaks of the completion.
Rising up don't just mean to stand up.
Rising up don't just mean to run.

But to – FLY.

Speaking of world domination –
You will cover more landscapes when you fly more than you do in running.

Rising and doing something what you were created to do.
Rising up to world domination.
Rising up and spreading the love out there.
People will see the light from the brightness of your rising.

It is simply because it is no more about your failing nor of your rising but about the lives that will be touched when you go full blast with the potentials of your life.

More of touching people’s lives.
More of contributing to make this world a better place.
More of changing the world.
More of love, happiness and good life.

This is the breakthrough of your rising.
This is the moment you have waited for.
This is your time.

Not just kneeling.
Not just walking.
Not just running.
Not just conquering.
But – FLYING.

You are not made to crawl. You are made to mount.

This – is the breakthrough of your rising.

WHAT IS THE TASTE OF THE WHITE OF AN EGG?

Good day! What do you have for breakfast?
I hope there is a fried egg.

It is because this is connected to this witty and radical truth -

Don't you know that the white of an egg was mentioned in the Bible? And we can get some valuable lessons from this truth? Well, it was recorded in the oldest book of the Bible which is the Book of Job. Job said in chapter 6, verse 6 -
Can that which is unsavory be eaten without a salt? Is there any taste in a white of an egg?
For sure, you don't like fried or poached egg without a salt. If you do, then Job is challenging you to answer his question- "If there is no salt in an egg, what is the taste of the white of an egg?" I give you time to think, or ask your kids, or maybe experiment with it by tasting an egg with no salt.

Whatever your answer is -

actually, that is not the issue here.

The true issue in this verse was this -

the severe suffering and poverty of Job that he didn't even have a salt to put taste to the only food he got and that is an egg. Don't you know that having no salt in a house in Israel at that time is the worst indication of poverty? This was what Job experienced at that time.

The worse was, three of his friends visited him but just gave him words but no actual help. My, they could have at least gave Job a salt!

Here are the lessons I got from this observation:

If you have a fried or poached egg for breakfast, be very, very thankful. Lots of people around the world cannot eat what you're eating because of extreme poverty. And if you're fried or poached egg tasted good because of the salt in it, also be very thankful. In some parts of the world, some may eat fried egg but they have no salt to put flavor in it. So be very thankful of your life if you can eat three times a day.

Sometimes, there are lots of small things in our lives that we need to appreciate because they are part of making our lives full and complete. Just imagine if there are no salt and eggs in the world?

Also, I learned a valuable lesson by observing what the three friends did not do to Job. They just brought words but no actual material help, not even a salt! This speaks to us to be more than just be thankful of the salt and fried egg in our breakfast table. This speaks to us to do something to participate in any effort to help the poor in our community. We cannot address the needs of poor people with our words no matter how religious it may sound. We must do something to help them for an egg with no salt still has no taste no matter how we persuade them that the egg tastes good.

Go outside and go to the poor areas in your community, ask a child the same question of Job -

"What is the taste of the white of an egg?"

If the child answers, "Salty" or, "Delicious", then it means that they can cook fried egg properly because they have salt. But if the child answers, "I don't know. It doesn't have any taste." Then you can presume that their family is in extreme poverty.

In your work or school today, ask someone, "What is the taste of the white of an egg?" They may answer different answers and they will be puzzled why you asked that question, but the point here is the curiosity and the appreciation of simple things in life, and to be conscious of the blessed life we have.

My Revolutionary Jesus, My Lord and My King

This is a radical, powerful and revolutionary declaration of who Jesus is. He knows you and loves you much. Hope you will know Him too personally. He wants to give you relationship not religion.

The Bible says my King is the King of the Jews.
He's the King of Israel. He's the King of righteousness.
He's the King of the ages. He's the King of Heaven.
He's the King of glory. He's the King of kings, and He's the Lord of lords.
That's my King. I wonder...Do you know Him?

My King is a sovereign King.
No means of measure can define his limitless love.
He's enduringly strong. He's entirely sincere.
He's eternally steadfast. He's immortally graceful.
He's imperially powerful. He's impartially merciful.
Do you know Him?

He's the greatest phenomenon that has ever crossed the horizon of this world.
He's God's Son. He's the sinner's Savior. He's the peak of civilization.
He's unparalleled. He's unprecedented.
He is the loftiest idea in literature. He's the highest personality in philosophy.
He's the fundamental doctrine of true theology.
He's the only one qualified to be an all-sufficient Savior.
I wonder if you know Him today.

He supplies strength for the weak. He's available for the tempted and the tried.
He sympathizes and He saves. He strengthens and sustains.
He guards and He guides. He heals the sick.
He cleanses the lepers. He forgives sinners.
He discharges debtors. He delivers the captives.
He defends the feeble. He blesses the young.
He serves the unfortunate. He regards the aged.
He rewards the diligent, and He beautifies the meager.
I wonder if you know Him.

He's the key to knowledge. He's the wellspring of wisdom.
He's the doorway of deliverance. He's the pathway of peace.
He's the roadway of righteousness.
He's the highway of holiness. He's the gateway of glory.
Do you know Him?

Well, His light is matchless. His goodness is limitless.
His mercy is everlasting. His love never changes.
His word is enough. His grace is sufficient.
His reign is righteous, and His yoke is easy and His burden is light.
I wish I could describe Him to you.
Yes, He's indescribable. He's incomprehensible.
He's invincible. He's irresistible.
You can't get Him out of your mind.
You can't get Him off of your head.
You can't outlive Him, and you can't live without Him.

Well, the Pharisees couldn't stand Him but they found out they couldn't stop Him.
Pilate couldn't find any fault in Him.
Herod couldn't kill Him.
Death couldn't handle Him, and the grave couldn't hold Him.
I wonder if you know Him.

That's My King!

“You are God's treasure.
The only part of creation He breathed to life.
Don't let someone define you differently."

An ancient inscription on the Cathedral in Lubeck, Germany, says:

Ye call me master, and obey me not.
Ye call me Light and seek me not.
Ye call me Way and walk me not.
Ye call me Wise and follow me not.
Ye call me Fair and love me not.
Ye call me Rich and ask me not.
Ye call me Eternal and seek me not.
Ye call me Gracious and trust me not.
Ye call me Noble and serve me not.
Ye call me Mighty and honor me not.
Ye call me Just and fear me not.

If I don't bless you, blame me not.”

WHAT FOUR THINGS GROWING CHURCHES HAVE IN COMMON

I have studied and compared four growing churches.
I grouped them into two groups-

traditional, and
modern.

It is amazing because though they were totally different
yet their churches are growing both in quality and quantity.

These are my comparisons.

BIG DREAMS PLUS BEST SHOTS EQUALS BREAKTHROUGHS

God will show His power to those who dare to believe even against all odds.
God promised in His words,
all things are possible to him who believes.
By believing, one can have this formula to succeed in life, first:

God Can!
This speaks of
Big Dreams

When you dream, dream big!
You have a big God and He owns everything.
When you believe, your talents, potentials and resources will
work together with the challenges, situations and opportunities.
It is because God can make your dreams come true.
But be sure you believe,

Now you have big dreams, add to these:

You Can!
This speaks of your
Best Shots
The day may seem filled with drudgery and commonness
but it is not the reason for you not to give your best shot.
You give your best shot because you believe
you are not just working for the present but you are getting ready for the future.
The best weapon you have right now against any challenges is to say "I can."

Big dreams plus your best shots means:

You Can Change!
This speaks of
Breakthroughs
In all the fulfillment of these dreams, the outmost outcome must be the better change of our lives.
The purpose of realization of dreams is the revolution of our lives.

Time for you to eradicate doubts and fear.
time for you to let God work in your life.
believe.

Dream BIG DREAMS because God can.
Do your BEST SHOTS because You Can.

Declare BREAKTHROUGHS because You Can Change.

Big Dreams plus Best shots equals Breakthroughs.

KINGDOM NOT BOREDOM

God's kingdom is all about the love of God reigning in the lives of people. His kingdom expansion is all about people discovering salvation and victorious living. When one discovers this radical truth, boredom can never sets in one's heart. It is because kingdom is living for others. Helping others gives meaning to life. Helping people and making this earth a better world through love, kindness and goodness gives true significance and direction in life. When you live for God's kingdom, becoming rich becomes not just accumulating money but gaining money because of the intention to help others. Growth in church becomes not for the sake of power and influence, but for sharing the love of God to people especially to the poor. Christian living becomes no longer bound by rituals and religiosity but of passionate caring for others. Life begins to have meaning when you live for the Kingdom.

Maybe the reason why you are bored because you are not living for His kingdom but just for yourself. Maybe you are bored in the pursuit of your dreams because your ambition is all just for yourself and not for others. Maybe you are bored because you work just to earn money but no intention whatsoever to help others. Maybe you are bored because your weekly activities has no effort in helping others. Maybe you are bored even in your church life because all you think is yourself- you pray just all for your own good, you attend worship all because you want to be cheered, and you study just because for your own growth- but where are your actions to help anyone? When was the last time you help someone? When was the last time you worship that you bring someone with you? When was the last time you shared the love of God to someone? This reveals why you are bored even in your church life. Even church life can really be boring no matter what is your preference in worship, when the church life all revolves inside and no more of sharing the love of God outside. Church life can be all rituals and religion when no lives are changed.

Boredom creeps in when kingdom living is set aside.

But when you start to dream, to work, to engage, and to live for others, and you will find true meaning and direction in life. You will get out of your comfort zone which is the breeding ground of boredom. Kingdom living has no comfort zone because all zones becomes Jesus' zones of helping someone. Kingdom mindset people can never be bored because they are overwhelmed that what they are doing is for the King, and for the expansion of His kingdom here on earth.

You were called for Kingdom, not boredom.
Help others.

The Book of Acts Was Not Called The Book of Plans

Something to ponder and to act upon:

The 5th book of the New Testament
was called "The Book of Acts"
because they didn't just

planned;
organized;
met;
prayed;
talked;
wished;

but they
acted.

Until in the present time, this is still the key of health and growth of the church.

We ought not just to;

plan;
organize;
met;
pray;
talk;
wish;

we must act.

Revolutionary Words That Ought To Be Heard In Our Churches Today

Reading this article will make you guess that this one could have been written either by an emerging church pastor, a post-modern leader or a radical/revolutionary leader in our present time. Let us read the article :

"I mean that the Lord has in his sacred oracles faithfully embraced and clearly expressed both the whole sum of true righteousness, and all aspects of the worship of his majesty, and whatever was necessary to salvation; therefore, in these the Master alone is to be heard. But because he did not will in outward discipline and ceremonies to prescribe in detail what we ought to do(because he foresaw that this depended upon the state of the times, and he did not deem one form suitable for all ages), here we must take refuge in those general rules which he has given, that whatever the necessity of the church will require for order and decorum should be tested against these.
Lastly, because he has taught nothing specifically, and because these things are not necessary to salvation, and for the upbuilding of the church ought to be variously accommodated to the customs of each nation and age, it will be fitting (as the advantage of the church will require) to change and abrogate traditional practices and to establish new ones.
Indeed, I admit that we ought not to charge into innovation rashly, suddenly, for insufficient cause. But love will best judge what may hurt or edify; and if we let love be our guide, all will be safe."
You will be surprised knowing who wrote this. Answer is below.

This was written hundred years ago in a book called Institutes of the Christian Religion written by none other than John Calvin.

WHY JESUS DID NOT SAY, "SEEK ME FIRST" BUT RATHER HE SAID, "SEEK FIRST THE KINGDOM OF GOD"

Jesus could have said,
"Seek me first"
rather than
"Seek first the kingdom of God."
Saying those words could still be right, valid, and righteous, but since He did not say it, he means something different why He emphasized that we must seek His kingdom first.

Actually most believers thought that it is what Jesus said in Matthew 6:33 but it is not. Many preachers and teachers misused the verse by saying "Seek God first" when actually what He said was specific as "Seek first the kingdom of God." God is different from the kingdom of God.

What do you think why He didn't said, "Seek me first" instead He said, "Seek first the kingdom of God?"

Answer is given after this photo.

Let me ask you - "Did you already accept Jesus as your personal Saviour?"
If the answer is, "Yes," let me ask you, "Where is Jesus?"
Most probably you will answer, "He is in my life. He is in my heart," and that is right.
So, let me answer the question above with a question -

So, why will you seek Someone who is already in you?

Get the point?

Truth: You will not seek Someone who is already in you.

Jesus even promised that He will never leave nor forsake you. He will always be in your heart. So the reason why He didn't said, "Seek me" because He is already in you. He said, "Seek first the kingdom of God" is because this is the thing you need to discover in your life while you live here on earth. The kingdom of God is not something to be received in heaven, but to be lived and enjoyed here on earth. The kingdom of God is right here and present now but you need to seek it in your life by having a victorious life, sharing the love of God to others, helping the poor, passing peace and kindness to others and experiencing the abundant life in Him. This is what we seek.

Jesus is always in you. You don't seek someone whom you know where he is.
You know where He is. What you and I were told is to seek His kingdom.

Get this radical truth?

WANTED: FIRST AID CHRISTIANITY

We have been reared in a Christianity that is always in a Fighting Stance. We have raised in a culture that we must always "defend" the truth to the point that we lost some fruits of the Spirit which are kindness, love and patience. We have seen bickering here and there, even in the name of "theology." And while we do this, we see how many people are going to perdition because we have lost our focus. All those times, we have a mindset of always fighting. We find glory when we thought we have defended the truth while we lost some precious souls. Some, because they don't believe anymore in present-day healing, have included that to heal people from their brokenness and spiritual wounds have also believed that these too are obsolete.

There are lots of wounded people in this world-
Inside and outside the Church, rich and poor, leaders and followers, young and old.
I also believe that those people who always hate other people, who are always judgmental to others, are actually results of their wounded and hurting souls.

Everybody needs healing. Everybody needs the Balm from Gilead.
I think it is time for us to really live what really is the identity of Christianity.

The church is not a museum, nor it is a war room; it is a hospital for all sick, wounded people.
Thus, when we are in our workplaces or wherever we are, what we bring with us are not guns and swords, but rather - a first aid kit.

Yes, this is a time for us to live the First Aid Christianity.
A kind of attitude which always finding the lost, the weak, the sick and the wounded. A kind of attitude which we always go for healing instead of hurting. A kind of attitude which we help those who are broken, heal the wounded and deliver the dying. A kind of attitude which we always foster peace and love, instead of polarization, legalism and indifference.

Wherever we go, we are carrying love, hope and the Gospel to heal wounded souls. Wherever we go, our mindset is not to hurt but to heal, not to bicker but to assist, not to war but to love. Jesus' mission is to  be the Great Physician healing the sick and the brokenhearted. Jesus commissioned us to go to the world not as armies to wage war, but as loving people who will help and heal those who are lost in their sins, and who are struggling in life.

Many people are wounded today because we have left our First Aid kit in our church buildings, in our houses, in our prayer rooms, and in our study rooms. We go out with this mindset to always fight because we thought we are the army on a mission. But even you are an army, an army is not complete without the medical team. What will you do if you were hit by temptation, discouragement and criticism? You need a first aid kit.

Jesus cleared this when He said, "my people is not of this world, lest my servant will fight." "The Spirit of the Lord has anointed me to heal the brokenhearted."

No wonder it is not coincidence that the symbol of First Aid is not a sword or a gun, but -

... a cross.

Carry love, hope and kindness wherever you go.
There are lots of wounded people in our midst.

What we need today is not  a Fighting Christianity but a

- First Aid Christianity.
