I have studied and compared four growing churches.
I grouped them into two groups-
traditional, and
modern.
It is amazing because though they were totally different
yet their churches are growing both in quality and quantity.
These are my comparisons.
Their worship style is different -
one prefers the old-fashioned traditional way,
the other prefers post-modern style of worship.
The former prefers hymns and solemn singing,
the latter prefers different genres of music.
The former prefers piano and guitar only,
the latter prefers drums, and electric guitars.
Their management style is different -
the traditional prefers theocracy,
while the modern prefers management by council.
Their discipleship process is different -
the traditional prefers "school-teaching" type
while the modern prefers small groups.
Their preaching style is different -
the traditional prefers topical, doctrinal and dynamic preaching,
while the modern prefers practical, relevant and "teaching-type" preaching.
Their dress codes are different -
the traditional prefers it formal, 60's to 70's American style of clothing,
while the modern wants it the modern casual way.
I can list more but it will consume a lot of space here in my site.
And I know you can list more on your own.
But it is amazing both of these churches are growing.
Their Sunday attendance are not less than 1,000.
Their people are passionate in what they do.
They have healthy fellowship and relationships.
And to note, they are not cults but churches believing the fundamental biblical truths -
salvation by grace through faith, eternal security, baptism, Lordship of Christ, etc.

Though they are different as far is the East is from the West,
I have observed they have four things in common, and these are:
They are passionate and aggressive in reaching people for the Lord.
This is number one I have observed.
Though they are different in many things, but my, they have taken the Great Commission
so seriously. They have made it the primary goal and vision of their churches.
They will not take it easy. They will not suffice that there will be no new person or visitor in their small groups, fellowships and church worship.
They don't suffice in "come-to-us" evangelism. They do incarnational evangelism.
They care for the sick, the poor and the broken.
Everything they do leads and ushers to sharing the Gospel.

They have one thing in common - aggressive evangelism.
The next one I have observed is this -
Their services are very inspiring.
Yes, regardless of their style of worship, style of preaching, style of music and the place where they worship, people leave the place always inspired and uplifted.
The third one is-
They don't mind the issues of other churches.
They knew full well that churches are all different, and they accept it full well.
They live in freedom in love.
They don't harbor indifference, prejudice and harsh judgment
against any one even to those whose faith are different from them.
They knew that focusing on their mission and goals is better than
focusing on issues of other people or other churches.
If you know a church leader who is so critical and prejudiced to other people,
visit the church of that leader and you will see what kind of church he has.
The last one they have in common is this -
They are passionate for Jesus not for their church.
They are proud of Jesus more than they are proud of their church.
They make Jesus famous more than they make their church famous.
They brag what Jesus did and not what they did.
Everything they do, they consider important because they knew Jesus loves them.
They brag the love of Jesus for them more than their love for Jesus.
They are more concerned of how to tell Jesus more than they are
concerned of how to project the image of their church to the community.
These are the four things growing churches have in common according to my own observation.
I know you have your observations, too.
By the way, the four churches I have observed are:
One is a big church is in America with 20,000 plus in attendance- very traditional and old-fashioned.
One is here in the Philippines - 5,000 in average attendance, modern, relevant and trendy.
One is in Haiti - no church building, persecuted, 25,000 in attendance.
The other one is in Korea - 100,000 plus in attendance.
