What if Jesus will ask you right now -
"What do you want me to do for you?"
What will you answer? What will you ask?
Pause for awhile and think again what will you answer to Jesus.
Don't you know that Jesus actually asked this same question, first to James and John, then next to a blind man[Luke 10:32-35]? This happened in the same day. Same question but different answers. What James and John asked was to be great, "to sit beside Jesus' throne in the kingdom." What the blind man asked was to see again. How about you, what will you ask- fulfillment of your dreams, a house, a car, a business, a million of pesos, a partner for life, a child, a healing?
The request of James and John was not given, while the request of the blind man was granted. You may wonder - What was the difference? What was the blind man has, that James and John did not have?
What the blind man has, made the difference. Do you know what are those?
First, the blind man totally believed. Remember, he was blind and since he cannot see, he cannot depend on anything but to fully trust in Jesus. The principle is true- "We live by faith and not by sight", and since he has no sight, he has no other option but an absolute trust in Jesus.
You may argue that James and John also believed but why their request was not granted? The answer was this - the issue is not in their faith but in their intention. The intention of James and John was for their own greatness. Let me say this, it will all boil down on our deepest intentions. Why do you ask for a certain thing? Why do you declare that you will have a certain thing, and yet you don't have it? Check your intentions. If it is for your own greatness, God will not give what you asked. The blind man's intention is none other than to - see Jesus. His intention is to glorify God above anything else.
Another thing that the blind man did was this - he asked for the present. Yes, he fully believed God for the present, while James and John's request was for the future. This is the test of faith. There is a big difference of believing for "someday" and believing for "today."
So, what will you say to Jesus if He asks you, "What do you want me to do for you?"
Whatever it is, be sure you fully believe.
And not just believe, check your intentions why you believe.
And not just believe with the right intentions, but can you believe it to happen today?
The answer is yours.

radical truth:
God will weigh our prayers not on what we ask, but on why we ask for it.
